I’m Hunting Sasquatch

Speaker: Paul Grizzaffi

Date: Saturday, October 26, 2013 9:45am – 10:25am CST

Location: Alamo Drafthouse Cinema

In the mainstream world, Sasquatch (also known as Bigfoot) is an ape-like creature infrequently seen in the Pacific Northwest. In the software realm, we have our own version of Sasquatch: that irritating “intermittent issue” that is difficult to find and that is often blamed on anything other than a product defect. Let’s explore how “periodic automation” can help hunt down these elusive targets and some considerations of which we need to be mindful when implementing this concept.

DevOps Live 2013 is Coming

The DevOps Live Conference is coming! Last year we had over 200+ RSVPs, well over the capacity of our venue. With this in mind, we are going bigger this year. Instead of a half-day conference, we’re aiming for a full-day event and a bigger venue, which means more speakers, more food, more swag, and more opportunities to network with people and organizations that are delivering innovations at web scale. Whether you come from a start-up or enterprise this conference is for you.

The DevOps Days conference in Austin was a perfect primer on what is happening within the DevOps movement. We are building on that by focusing on the implementation and technologies that bring DevOps to your organizations. Don’t worry if you missed the Austin event, we’ll bring you up to speed. The DevOps Live conference is aimed for October 26th, 2013. Soon venue and registration details will be available.

Tweet Us, Facebook Us, or G+ us and let us know what you’re excited about most! (Also, let us know if you’re interested in speaking)

From localhost to production with Vagrant

Speaker: Jordan Ambra

Date: Tuesday, May 21, 2013 7:00pm – 8:00pm CST

Location: Paladin Consulting

Jordan Ambra is the devops engineer/sysadmin for 3S Mobile, a company that provides a mobile platform to manage farmers and their activities in developing countries. He lives in rural Pennsylvania with his lovely wife and 2 kids, and has been working independently from his home office for 5 years. His biggest passion? Learning new things and sharing what he knows with others. Unfortunately, he forgets to share sometimes. Oops.

Jordan is going to talk about Vagrant, which is the easiest way to get rid of Works On My Machine problems for your development team. In particular, he will show how to minimize the differences between how you develop and run code on localhost and production through the help of automation and integration of Vagrant with Chef and Puppet.

No previous knowledge of any of these systems is required.
